Mr & Mrs Elliott

Yesterday saw the my friend Paula get married...finally!
The Wedding was held at Barnet Hill in Surrey which is a beautiful old Queen Anne building with amazing gardens and rooms of 'rich mahogany' Ron Burgundy style! The drinks were reasonably prices and the food was great! She even had a sweet cart to help yourself from...and we did...4 or 5 times! Flying saucers and actual Cadbury buttons though, who could resist!?

She was the least ladylike bride, but she looked beautiful and spent the whole day grinning from ear to ear having the time of her life and that's what matters!

I love weddings and it's so nice to be a guest for once, rather than the manager! It was so lovely to see Paula surrounded be all the people she loves, thank you for letting us be a part of it.

Benefit - Gimme Brow

Generally in my make up and beauty routines my eyebrows get neglected.
I admit it, I over plucked in a my teenage years and now they just don't grow. I realised about a month ago that I hadn't taken a tweezer to by brows for over 18 months- a year and a half people!
Anyway, in short I'm a bit late to the eyebrow show (sorry Deleveign!) so I have invested in Benefits Gimme Brow...

I was advised to get the light/medium colour for my skin tone. The tube is teeny, hope I don't loose it! Benefit products are a ft little pricey, but I have found with their other products that they last forever so hope this serves me well!

It's like a mascara wand for hamsters! You just pull out the little brush and sweep it through your brow and it sticks to the hairs and builds colour and volume.

Before

After. It has filled in the gaps and built up the density of my brow.

Ta-da! Two eyebrows. They looks fuller and darker, but more natural than if they had been done with a pencil.
Over all I'm quite impressed with this little tube!
You can buy it here for £17.50.

Any one else using this? What do you reckon?

Going Out Face

This is my general going out face...not popping out, not out out...just out! (You know the skit!)

I thought I would give you a brief overview of the products I generally use for going out just to the pub or for dinner, along those lines.

This is my no makeup, glorious face.

After primer this is what I smother my face in. First a bit of Boi-ing concealer by Benefit to cover any sneaky spots or dark circles. I'm not really keen on liquid foundation, I prefer something lighter, so I use this powder mineral foundation from Avon with a Ruby and Millie kabuki brush. As it's summer I add a bit bronzer just under my cheek bones and some highlighter.

Based. I'm sure I'm not actually this orange...

Next on to eyes. I use a pencil liner on my top lash line and on the outer corners of my lower lashes aswell as inside the waterline. I also use a liquid liner over the top, I find it easier over pencil as I don't have a very steady hand, and although it looks less dramatic it is less messy! I use an eyelash primer to thicken and lengthen my lashes before mascara and fill in my brows with a bit of pencil. For lips, I generally have something in my bag for a touch of moisture and colour throughout the evening such as Barry M Cor Balmy.

There, Ta-da, done! Now hair, get changed and ready to go out...but not out out!

Ted Baker Makeup

So, I had put a load of stuff in this Ted Baker box my dad got me for Christmas, and it's not until now...8 months later that I remembered it came with a load of make up which I had put in the draw underneath! What an idiot, but what a treat to find!
On Sunday evening we went to the theater and I wanted to create a soft look, and these products fitted the bill perfectly. I chose the mascara, eyeshadow and lipgloss stick.

As it was pretty hot I didn't bother with foundation but used a bit of Smashbox Photo Finish primer across my nose and cheeks instead, and put a smudge of eyeliner in the outer corners.
The eyeshadow comes with a brush attached to the screw top which makes it easy to apply. It's a loose powder so make sure you have a bit of tissue, or loose powder at the ready to sweep away any mess! It gave a mice shimmery effect and a touch of colour.

Now, I was a bit dubious about the mascara- I know what I like, and that's a bit fat brush that piles it on! The wand for this was plasticy with tiny bristles, but as you can see it really separated my lashes and lengthened them too. Impressed!

The colour is a lot glossier than I thought it would be from this stick, still not sure of that's good or bad! And the colour didn't last that long, although it's easier enough to carry round with you. You wins it up at the bottom to give yourself more when it runs down.

So I liked useing the Ted Baker stuff and will be moving it from the box in to my makeup bag, where it should have gone straight after Christmas!!

Maybeline Dream Fresh BB Cream

I am yet to be sold on BB Creams. Personally I find them to feel thick and heavy on my skin and look obvious. It also seems weird to me to rub it in- it looks like foundation and it's just not the done thing!
So when I got this little sample I was dubious, but gave it a go...

I put it straight on to my washed face, without moisturising as it claims to do that for you. In fact it claims to do 8-things-in-1 and I must admit it did. The colour matched my skin tone really well and made it look a lot smoother, evening out any redness and the dark circles round my eyes. You can see the coverage on my forehead before and after pictures, as I had a few lumpy bumpy bits today! It felt much lighter than other BB Creams I have tried and I'm glad I gave it a chance. I don't think I could be converted to wear it every day but may invest in this to wear under my regular powder foundation for special occasions as I found the coverage really good, and it has more benefits than a normal liquid foundation.
The price for 30ml is £7.99. This sample contained 1ml and was ample to cover my whole face. So I imagine you get approx a months use from a tube which makes it really good value.

Anyone else out there love a BB Cream, or got a better one?
